Default a couple in-game questions...

Hey everyone. I have run across a few things the last couple nights and have sorta looked around and non of the 3 people I play with every night had definete answers either. So I figured I would try here. =)

- Last night our group of 4 were out working through the Charr....I won a drop on a Armor Kit or something that was weird because it said it was "Unidentified". Anyway when I identified it I got a bit of music that played and a window popped up saying something like "Item Unlocked: Rune of Ranger Wilderness Survival!".

So....the item then said it gave +1 to Wilderness Surv. or something like that. But we had no idea what you do with it. Can anyone give the Dummies guide explanation on this?

- Im playing a E/ME level 9 almost 10 currently. Up to this point I have yet to see a staff (2 handed) that would make me want to give up a wand/offhand combo. The staffs never do more damage then the wands and never do they have more total mana then a combo of wand/offhand. Does this stay true for rest of game? I guess the only reason someone would use staff is because it gave some nice bonus to a skill they use?

- Ive heard before people mention someone in the group "calling targets" now is this some in game feature or is it just the term for person picking a target? I miss how for instance in EQ2 and some other games you could just target the tank and then cast offensive spells and they would hit whoever he was targeting. Is there a easier way to confirm in a crowd of monsters who someone is attacking other then tabbing till you see something that is hurt?

- Where does Fur Squares come from? Of our group of 4 we have found the stuff for all our armors but the warrior primary in our group needs fur. What mobs do we typically get the items to salvage this from?

Thanks for any help on these.

- Maia

1. You have unlocked the rune for use for making a PvP character. However, to get the rune to use now, you need an expert salvage kit, which, you can't get in pre-sear from what I know. So, hold on to it.

2. I'm not sure, I haven't played an Ele extensively.

3. This answer is plenty easy to search for.
CTRL+Space Call selected target
CTRL+double LClick Call Target (attack)
CTRL+Shift+LClick Call Target (select)

It may be a bit confusing, but basically if you hold CTRL and left click once on a target you should call them, double clicking will attack. Once a target has been called, a message will appear for the party telling them to press 't' to target the called target. If someone is just saying, attack who I do, then tell them to use the call target command, it makes it easier for the group.

4. You should be able to search for this answer too.

Thanks for the answers but Im not sure the one above is any clearer now, hehe. Used for making a PVP character? Im not sure I understand that one. Can you clarify a small bit how this is used?

Ok so let me see if I have any sort of a grip on this, hehe.

I see looking at that page you linked that this thing was the minor Wilderness Survival rune for a ranger. So...this is used to craft a piece of armor that will then give a +1 to Wilderness Survival correct?

So then the next logical question is.... this really doesnt do my Elementalist any good right?

One of my friends is a ranger primary I should just give it to him correct?

The fact that I "Unlocked" this doesnt do anything per say for my character? Its just a rare of sorts and my ranger friend will get use from it?

What does this have to do with PvP at all? Im confused by the first guys statement that this unlocked something for PvP. Its just a component to make armor have a + to an atribute right?

a premade pvp character can have access a roleplaying (pve) character unlocks

you can trade with your friend for a future something they find that you can use and they cant
or you can give it to them
make sure you apply it to at least level (not al) 5-10 armor so as not to waste it on something you will have only for a short tome
or put it into your vault space if you might do a ranger later

edit
runes are for only the primary armor no secondary armor

Thanks for the answers. However the line above I read over and over about 10 times and still dont understand what you said there.

Are you saying somehow that by finding that I somehow unlocked Ranger as a premade PvP character or something? Very confused Im sorry.

Fire up guild wars and instead of making a RP character, go through the creation screen to make a PvP character, it will all make much more sense when you see the options.

To get the rune that is currently part of the Charr armor you need to use an expert salvage kit. That will give you a good change of salvaging the rune. (not 100% though) You can then give or sell the rune to your ranger friend and they can incorporate it into their armor. I think dragging and dropping the rune on the armor piece still works, I'm not sure though I haven't found any useful runes yet.

The PvP unlocking is refering to creating a PvP only character at startup. That rune is now available to you if you create a PvP ranger.
